Prompts:

  • What were the most powerful lessons you learned?

  • What were your biggest challenges?  How did you (or did you not) overcome them?

  • What were your biggest successes?

  • What are your personal short-term and long-term goals regarding language learning?

The class went all right, I was still able to learn and stay pretty engaged despite being online. It was definitely weird to learn a language online with no classroom classes, however, the online work allowed me to be a little more flexible with classwork and to take my time on things that proved to be a little harder than others. I personally struggle to learn anything online but I still persevered and was able to learn some new stuff in class. Such as now being able to write more fluently in Spanish than I used to, even if the grammar isn't completely correct I can still get my thoughts out through in my writing.

All of that said the school year wasn't perfect I did face some challenges with the online formate. Not having class regularly was probably the biggest, because when I have class regularly I’m spreading out classwork, but when it's only once a week and I’ve got a lot of other classwork it can be easier to wait and do it all in a day or two than spread it out. Another challenge was learning how the week's slideshows worked since I’ve never had a teacher assign slideshows before. Though that challenge did get better pretty fast just cause I like google slides.

Challenges aside I did feel pretty successful in class by learning some new language words and cultural things. I enjoyed splitting off from just reading the book and learning about grammar or the female fighters. For short-term and long-term goals I'm not really sure what they would be. Maybe just brushing up on Spanish when I have the time so I don't forget everything. Short-term maybe helping my friends who are still in Spanish and need some extra non-teacher assistance.
