Design Your Own Project
​My goal was to make this photo look realistic and not something that someone would look at and think "oh, that's photoshopped." I started with a photo of a friend, I then thickened the trees, added shadows and put a new sky in the background. I used was Adobe Photoshop to add all of these things. Towards the end of the project we had a peer critique, this was to help us in refining our project. I thought this was going to be more helpful, but it turned out that I didn't get helpful suggestions. At this point I was confused on what else I needed to add or change. After thinking about it I added more mountains in the back and I touched up the color of the sky.
​I chose to do a Photoshopped project because I wanted to refine my skills while making something realistic. We didn't really have any limit to what we could create. The feeling of no risk in whatever you create was exhilarating. Throughout the project I didn't feel rushed, this was nice because no one needs more stress especially in school. I plan to use my photoshop skills in the future to create realistic artwork, for school and personal projects.
​In this project we learned about scale and proportion, foreground, Middleground and background. We also learned about what zip files are, why they are useful and how to extract them. Scale and proportion is the relationship between all of the objects in the picture. This has to do with the balance between everything in the picture. For instance foreground is the part that is the closest to the viewer. Objects that are in the foreground are bigger and you can see more detail on them. The middleground is in the middle of the picture it's between the foreground and the background. Objects in this part of the picture are smaller than they are in the foreground and they are less detailed. The background is where the the objects are perceived as farther away than the foreground and middleground. They are much less detailed and often look blurry. Using foreground, middleground and background gives the allusion of what it would look like if you had just taken the photo. Zip files can be useful to use because they take up less space due to the fact that you can compact more than one file into a single folder. However you have to extract the zip file in order to use the contents of it.

First you have to use the pen tool to select the eye, then make the selection by right licking. The next thing that I did was make sure that my Feather Radius was at 3. Then you press Ctrl +U this will let you change the color of the eye. This is what I did so that I could change the blue eye to purple.

​The first thing that you do to change the hair color is make a new layer and set your blend mode to soft light. After you have done that you have to select the brush tool and change the hardness to 0% the opacity to 50% and the flow at 100%. After you adjust the brush then select your color that you want and start painting. If there is some extra color that's not on the hair just go to the eraser tool and select a soft brush to neaten up the edges.

Do you feel you met or approached the projects rational? Use evidence explain why or why not.
I feel that I have met the projects rational with learning about how cave people used art as a way of telling stories, what art can mean in different time eras and what people consider art to be. I have learned that I can create art that I’m proud of and that I want to be shown to others, I have been taught how to create yucca paint brushes and how people used to paint with them. I also have a better idea at why people painted to tell stories.
What is considered art?
​I think that art is whatever you want it to be. I feel that it is really hard to define art as one thing because everyone has their own style and no one is going to do exactly the same thing as some else. Realistically art is the action of creating something that has different pieces that fits together in an eye catching or pleasing manner. Because of this art is whatever you want it to be.
How does contexts affect works of art?
I believe that contest is an important part representing a specific historical place/time era or some kind of story that you want to tell. If your art doesn’t connect to the thing that your trying to represent then that can have an effect on your art. And example of this could be something like showing the story of a girl, that has had a hard childhood. If you can’t depict this then people might get confused on what your trying to do.
Why does contexts matter when interpreting art?
I think that it matters because, all of the different aspects of an art piece gives off a certain vibe. For example if you were trying to paint something that is light heart-ted like a puppy and a little kid. Then if you used a medium that was really dark that would give a dark depressing vibe that you weren’t trying to show. While if you used something that was a lighter color then that would show more of the up beat aspects that you want other people to see.

In this project we took photos of things around our campus that look like the letters in our names. During this project we learned how to feather the edges of the pictures, how to make all of them all same size and how to use layer masks in photoshop to make our artwork unified and balanced in the size of the letters and the colors in our project. We learned how artists make their work "balanced." This means that the work feels proportional and not lopsided. An example of this could be that the white to black ratio has a feel of being even. We also learned about how artists create "unity" their work. This is when you have a sense of completeness or refinement to your work.
